Maternity photography - Abbie
This beautiful mummy-to-be to third baby chose to have a photo session with her growing baby bump and her two children. It always has been my wish to shoot in the open space with nature as a beautiful backdrop with trees and grass all around. And what a perfect time of the year to make my wish come true and be able to shoot in a beautiful meadow.
I set up the spot under the tree well before Abbie and her children’s arrival and tested the light, making sure sunlight is not going to shine directly on them as it was a partly cloudy day. A cosy place with blankets, pillows and plenty of children’s books was ready just in time for their arrival.
I always remind my clients that photo sessions with me are not traditional posed sessions and I will allow children and parents to be themselves around each other. I do not want anyone to look back at those precious pictures and not recognise who they are. So I set up place for Abbie and her children to be comfortable in.
Our session started with reading a book that made the children relaxed and forget about the pressure of being in front of the camera. It was so calming for them to hear Mummy’s voice and bond with baby bump as well.
Once we were done with books, it was time to explore the meadow. Each children took it in turns to make lovely portraits with mummy while the other one went for a little adventure walk. It was lovely to see Abbie’s bond with each child and how welcome their new sibling will be.
The final part of our photo session was to really let the children run around and play together. The meadow was full with little flowers and insects for little ones to explore and and also let off some steam before Abbie headed back home to have a well deserved nap.
